These areas are rife with minerals and ore, and are to be used for the future planned feature of mining. Keep in mind however that Resource Extraction Sites are often targets for pirates as well as the average working man, so you are just as likely to meet a kindly miner as you are an ambushing group of vagrants. Stay well-armed and ever vigilant.
