Ancient Artefact

From Elite: Dangerous Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Ancient Artefacts aka Unknown Artefacts are a form of salvage in Elite: Dangerous. Due to their organic appearance, they are thought to be of thargoid origin. They produce low, drowned out noises in Morse code. When translated, it creates a sketch of the ship which was scanning it. When inside the cargo bay of a ship, they continuously damage the cargo hold, due to their corrosive properties, resulting in the ejection of the Ancient Artefact from the cargo hold. When observed in space, they all point to one planet. Currently, Ancient Artefacts are illegal in most stations, but can be sold for 5,000 CR on the black market. A research base for these Ancient Artefacts has been set up in the system of Maia, yet it holds no in-game significance.
