Every ship in Elite: Dangerous can be outfitted with a variety of deadly and dangerous weaponry. A weapon, arm, or armament is any device used in order to inflict damage or harm to living beings, structures, or systems. Weapons are used to increase the efficacy and efficiency of activities such as hunting, crime, law enforcement, self-defense, and warfare. In a broader context, weapons may be construed to include anything used to gain a strategic, material or mental advantage over an adversary.

While just about any ordinary objects such as sticks, stones, cars, or pencils can be used as weapons, many are expressly designed for the purpose – ranging from simple implements such as clubs, swords and guns, and to complicated modern intercontinental ballistic missiles, lasers, mine launchers, and Cannons.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

Each ship in the world of Elite: Dangerous can be outfitted with various weapons. These weapons are typically organized into three basic types:

Additionally, weapons in these categories fall in one of three variations, either Gimballed (the weapon will track a target that is within the cone of fire infront of the ship, usually 120 degrees), Fixed (the weapon only fires straight ahead) or Turreted (The weapon will fire automatically at any hostile target in a 360 degree field of fire, depending of the placement of the weapon on the ship).

Classes[edit | edit source]

Each weapon also has classes, indicating increase in strength and accuracy. The class level that can be equipped depends entirely on the level of hardpoint; that is, Class 2 Hardpoints can equip Class 2 and below, Class 3 can equip Class 3 weapons and below, etc.
